The horsehair Shu-fly is a fly whisk for horses, designed as a swinging tassel that attaches to suitable saddle equipment. As the horse moves, the tassel can swing from side to side and help move insects away. Similar Shu-flys are commonly attached to a saddle girth; this model has a loop made of Latigo leather for fastening.
The horsehair forms the whisk, while a braided Latigo leather knob holds the hair together at the top. A matching loop made from the same leather provides the attachment point. The total length is approximately 30 cm. The result is a compact piece of saddle accessory with a traditional Western look, combining horsehair with braided Latigo leather details.
